Arequipa Treking Mountain Chachani 2D/1N

Chachani has an altitude of 6075msnm, Chachani means “skirt” in Quechua and is divided into three parts: Angel: 5825msnm, Fatima: 5900msnm, Chachani: 6075msnm.

Chachani is usually covered with snow and ice, so you need to bring ice pick and rolls. You need to wear all the warm clothes you have, as the temperature can be extremely cold in the mountains. You also need to bring water, snacks like chocolates or sweets (for energy).

Itinerario:

DAY 1: AREQUIPA + ASCENSO BASE CHACHANI

We left Arequipa early after about 2 hours, we started walking up to the elevation of 5200msnm. After two hours we arrived at our base camp, near 5400msnm, we set up our equipment and walked up to pass, (about 120 meters more) to get accustomed to the altitude. Temperatures range from + 5 ° to 15 ° C.

DAY 2: ASCENSO VOLCAN CHACHANI + AREQUIPA

We started climbing around 2:30 am after a mate of coke or hot coffee. We climb to the first step, crossing the north face of the Angel (usually covered with snow), from where you can see the city of Arequipa. We then ascend to the south of Fatima, crossing another small strait of snow and make the last effort to continue climbing towards the top. The ascent takes between 5 to 6 hours, then we descend to the base camp, it will take between 2 to 3 hours. We left most of the team at base camp and just took the torch for the climb.
Once in the base camp we packed everything and we descended to the place where we left the mobility the previous day and that is already waiting for us.
